Here is some quick information about things like taxes, student loans, EI benefits. Also, some links attached for you to get more information or to stay up to date. Please stay safe and if you have any trouble navigating these services, reach out to us and we will do our best to assist you.
*You have up until June 1st to file your taxes.
* It's encouraged not to delay filling your tax return if you expect to receive GST or Child Tax benefits, to ensure that these entitlements for 2020-21 benefits are properly determined.
* You can e-file your taxes that are free to low cost found at the link here: www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/e-services/e-services-individuals/netfile-overview/certi...
*6 months interest-free moratorium on the repayment of Canada student loans for all individuals currently in the process of repaying these loans.
*Paused repayment until September 30th with no accrual of interest. Pending parliamentary approval, these measures will become effective March 30th, 2020. This will include pre-authorized debits.
* Provide up to 15 weeks in income replacement for eligible claimants who are unable to work because of illness, injury or quarantine.
* One week waiting period for EI sickness benefits will be waived for new claimants who are quarantined.
*People claiming EI sickness benefits due to quarantine will not have to provide a medical certificate.
